Mathematical aspects:
The observation of the sun is the basis for the calculation of times for the course
of a day or one year. This topic focuses on the coordination of the course of the sun with the
course of the day as well as on the description and structuring of the day. The children should be
able to read the time by the clock hour and to accordingly place the hands of the clock. On the
basis of practical comparisons of time, the children should develop a sensation for the duration of
time and should be able to calculate time periods. However, the objective of this topic is not so
much to systematically build up the concept of time, but rather to obtain an initial orientation
within an every day scope.
